Trey Vaval wins second consecutive CFL Special Teams award

Winnipeg Blue Bombers returner Trey Vaval has been named the Canadian Football League’s Most Outstanding Special Teams Player. With this win, the Blue Springs, Missouri, native becomes the first player in league history to win the award in consecutive years.

Vaval led the league during his second season with 2,868 total return yards, averaging 13.8 yards per punt return and 24.2 yards per kickoff return. His season included two touchdowns: an 88-yard kickoff return and a 129-yard return on a missed field goal.

The announcement follows a revamped CFL awards process where winners are recognized through behind-the-scenes moments rather than a traditional ceremony. Vaval, who was also the 2025 Most Outstanding Rookie, joins Corey Holmes as the only players to have won this specific trophy more than once.
