Treyarch signals shift toward new projects after Black Ops 7

Treyarch has signaled a transition period following the conclusion of support for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. During a recent developer update, studio leadership indicated that the team is preparing to move toward a new project that may depart from the established Black Ops formula.

Design Director Kevin Drew described the conclusion of the current cycle as a “bittersweet goodbye,” noting that the team has learned significant lessons over the last two years. While the specific nature of the next project remains unconfirmed, Drew teased that the studio is ready to create “something new” and an experience that players have never encountered before.

Specifically regarding the Zombies mode, Drew suggested that the next iteration will feature a completely reimagined survival experience. Although the next major installment in the franchise is not expected until approximately 2028, the studio is already looking toward future innovations to avoid excessive continuity between annual releases.
