Treyten Lapcevich leaves Chad Bryant Racing after Martinsville brawl
Driver Treyten Lapcevich has announced he is cutting ties with team owner Chad Bryant for the remainder of the season following a post-race altercation at Martinsville Speedway. Lapcevich stated that his upcoming race at Newport Speedway will be his final event with Chad Bryant Racing.
The decision follows a physical confrontation involving Bryant and crew members against driver Corey Heim near a concession stand after the ValleyStar Credit Union 300. The incident was triggered by on-track contact between Lapcevich and Heim on the cool-down lap. NASCAR has issued several penalties in response to the brawl:
• Chad Bryant has been suspended indefinitely, fined $2,000, barred from next year’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville, and ordered to undergo anger management training. • Crew member Steven Civatarese received an indefinite suspension, a $1,000 fine, and one year of NASCAR probation. • Ryden Lapcevich also received disciplinary action from the sanctioning body.
Lapcevich issued a statement distancing himself from the actions, noting, “What happened with Corey after the race was wrong and it should not have happened.” Despite the team split, Lapcevich remains in contention for the Late Model Driver Championship.
