Treyvon Pritchard nears comeback following hip-drop tackle injury
Queensland Reds prospect Treyvon Pritchard is nearing a recovery from a serious ankle injury, including a syndesmosis injury and a broken ankle. The injury occurred during a hip-drop tackle, a technique that World Rugby has recently moved to outlaw due to its danger.
Sam Cordingley, the Queensland Reds general manager of high-performance, stated that Pritchard is recovering well following surgery and may join the club on upcoming tours to Japan and Italy. Pritchard has secured a contract extension with the Reds and Rugby Australia through the end of 2029.
The injury sidelined the 19-year-old during a period when he was considered a potential candidate for Wallabies selection. He is expected to be fully fit for the start of the Super Rugby Pacific season next year.
