TRF-6 to inaugurate new leadership for 2026-2028 biennium

The Federal Regional Court of the 6th Region (TRF-6) will inaugurate its new leadership for the 2026-2028 biennium on August 20. Federal Judge Ricardo Machado Rabelo has been appointed as the new president, with Miguel Angelo de Alvarenga Lopes serving as vice-president and regional corregidor.

Rabelo is noted for coordinating the renegotiation agreement regarding the Mariana dam disaster involving Samarco, Vale, and BHP. The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Cine Theatro Brasil Vallourec, with total costs estimated at approximately R$ 175,000, funded entirely by the court's own resources.

While the renegotiation aims to repair damages from the 2015 dam failure, some academic research suggests that legal disputes regarding the Mariana case remain ongoing and that the current renegotiation process may follow a more privatized perspective compared to traditional public adjustment terms.
