Târgoviște to introduce free public transport every Friday
Starting in September, the city of Târgoviște, Romania, will offer free public transportation every Friday. The measure, announced by Mayor Daniel Cristian Stan, aims to encourage residents to use public transit instead of personal vehicles to reduce traffic congestion and promote environmental sustainability.
The free service will apply to all passenger categories throughout the municipality. This initiative follows significant investments in the city's transport infrastructure, funded by European funds and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The modernized fleet currently includes 40 hybrid buses and 21 electric buses. Recent infrastructure improvements also include the construction of three new bus stations, modernized waiting areas, a dedicated garage for electric vehicles, and the rehabilitation of over 6 kilometers of bus routes.
