Târgu Jiu Folk Music Festival 'Poarta Sărutului' Opens Registrations for 2026 Edition

The National Folk and Ballad Music Festival "Poarta Sărutului" will be held in Târgu Jiu from 7–9 August 2026 at the Nelu Dumitru Summer Theatre. Organisers have announced that registration for performers is still open, continuing a tradition that began more than two decades ago and attracting both established artists and emerging talent. The program will feature three competition evenings, recitals, guest performances and a Laureates' Gala awarding the best participants.

Meanwhile, students of the Constantin Brâncuși Popular School of Arts in Târgu Jiu have secured numerous prizes at regional folk festivals, including first‑place awards in vocal and instrumental categories at the Iustina Băluțeanu and Nicolae Mischie competitions. The achievements highlight the school’s role in preserving and promoting authentic Romanian folklore.
