Târgu Jiu man detained after knife attack on two men

A 58-year-old man has been detained in Târgu Jiu after allegedly attacking two men with a knife on Sublocotenent Mihai Cristian Oancea Street. The victims, aged 47 and 39, were injured during the incident on October 10, 2026.

One of the victims was transported to a hospital for medical treatment, while the second individual declined medical assistance. Following the incident, a criminal case for assault or other acts of violence was opened. The suspect was held for 24 hours at the Gorj County Police Inspectorate's detention and preventive arrest center as investigations continue under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office.
