Türi hosts 26th national Walking Day for rheumatism support
More than 300 participants gathered in Türi for the 26th national Walking Day, an initiative organized by the Estonian Rheumatism Association. The event brought together individuals with chronic joint diseases, their relatives, and fitness enthusiasts from various regions across Estonia, including Saaremaa, Pärnu, Tartu, Tallinn, and Viljandi.
In addition to Estonian participants, delegations from the Latvian Rheumatism Association and the Estonian Psoriasis Association were in attendance. The event focused on providing community support, reliable health information, and appropriate physical activity. Participants engaged in activities such as Nordic walking training led by Silvi Lukjanov and walking football.
Specialists, including rheumatologists, diabetologists, physiotherapists, and ergonomics experts, were available to offer advice. Organizers emphasized that the event is not a competition, but rather a way to encourage movement according to individual abilities and to reduce the isolation often felt by those living with chronic illnesses.
