Trial Holdings and Sugi Holdings to open pharmacies in Fukuoka stores

Trial Holdings and Sugi Holdings have announced the first phase of their strategic collaboration, which involves opening Sugi Pharmacy dispensing counters within Trial supermarket locations. Starting September 1, 2026, these new pharmacies will be located inside the Super Center Trial Suee and Super Center Trial Iizuka stores in Fukuoka Prefecture.

The partnership aims to create a ‘one-stop shopping’ environment by combining Trial’s low-cost, everyday low-price (EDLP) retail operations and retail technology with Sugi Pharmacy’s specialized dispensing expertise. This model is designed to integrate daily grocery shopping with medical access, enhancing convenience for local residents.

For Sugi Holdings, the move allows for faster expansion and increased customer touchpoints by leveraging Trial’s high foot traffic. For Trial Holdings, the integration of healthcare services is intended to transform their discount stores into comprehensive lifestyle support hubs, specifically targeting increased engagement from senior and family demographics.
