Triathletes prepare for Ironman World Championship in Kona

Elite triathletes Lucy Charles-Barclay and Marta Sánchez are preparing for the upcoming Ironman World Championship in Kona.

Charles-Barclay recently completed a training camp at Club La Santa in Lanzarote, Spain. She reported being in ‘peak form’ after successfully managing high training volumes of 25 to 30 hours per week without injury or illness. She noted that her body has responded well to the training load, providing her with confidence heading into the competition.

Marta Sánchez is also targeting a strong performance in Kona following a forced withdrawal from last year's event due to injury. After training in Sierra Nevada and Flagstaff, Arizona, Sánchez aims for a top 10 finish to secure a position on the IRONMAN PRO Series podium. She emphasized the importance of better effort management, particularly during the cycling stage, compared to her previous attempt.
