Triathlon athletes Zoltán Varga and Zsolt Szollár mark career milestones

Hungarian triathletes Zoltán Varga and Zsolt Szollár have reached significant career milestones. Zoltán Varga is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his first triathlon, which took place on October 19, 1986, in Debrecen. Varga reflected on the historical nuances of the event, noting the lack of formal equipment depots and the unique experience of finishing the swim in warm thermal water, which caused many participants to suffer from leg cramps.

Meanwhile, Zsolt Szollár has successfully qualified for the 2027 half-distance World Championships. Following his performance at an Ironman event in Porec, Croatia, where he finished sixth in a field of approximately 2,000 competitors, Szollár secured his spot to compete against the world's best in two different distances in 2027. Despite expressing dissatisfaction with his pacing during the run, Szollár noted the significance of his result given the strength of the international field.
