Triathlon events announced for Munich and Biesenthal

New triathlon events have been announced for Germany. The Munich Triathlon is set to debut in 2027 at the Olympiapark. Developed by the Deutsche Triathlon Union (DTU) and World Triathlon, the event will feature two formats: a sprint distance for beginners and a classic Olympic distance for experienced athletes. The course includes swimming in the Olympiasee, a cycling route toward western Munich, and a running section within the Olympiapark grounds.

Additionally, the Wukensee-Triathlon is scheduled for September 6, 2026, in Biesenthal. The event will cause significant traffic disruptions and full road closures between 8:00 and 16:00, specifically affecting the L 29 and L 294 roads. Local bus services (Line 896) will also face route changes and stop closures during the competition.
