Tribeca Film Festival Data Leak Exposes Contact Details of Hollywood Stars

Cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler uncovered an unsecured online database linked to the Tribeca Film Festival that contained hundreds of thousands of records, including a folder labelled “Contacts.” The data exposed phone numbers, email addresses and other contact information for numerous high‑profile figures in the entertainment industry, such as Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Sharon Stone and others. Fowler said, “There were many, many household names in the records who could have been targeted with malware,” highlighting the security risks of the breach.

After identifying the exposure, Fowler notified the festival, which quickly restricted public access and began an active investigation. While the majority of the leaked details belonged to managers and agents rather than the celebrities themselves, there is no evidence that the information was accessed or misused before it was secured. The Tribeca Film Festival has not issued a public comment beyond confirming the investigation.
