Tribunal de Justiça da Bahia implements judicial reforms

The Court of Justice of the State of Bahia (TJ-BA) is implementing structural changes to improve judicial efficiency and capacity. In Brumado, the court has scheduled the installation of the 2nd Criminal Court for September 30. This new unit aims to redistribute the current caseload between two courts, reducing the concentration of processes and increasing the speed of criminal proceedings.

Additionally, the TJ-BA plenary unanimously approved a regimental amendment to reorganize its civil organs at the second instance. Following a state law that increased the number of judges from 70 to 75, the court will double its number of Civil Chambers from five to ten. Each chamber will now consist of five judges instead of nine, with specialized divisions for Public Law and Private Law to ensure faster trials and more predictable judicial decisions.
