Tribunal Superior Electoral processes name change requests

The Tribunal Superior Electoral (TSE) in Santo Domingo is processing several requests for legal name changes that involve names traditionally associated with a different sex than the one currently registered.

One notable case involves José Valdez, who has requested to legally adopt the name Camila Sofía Valdez. The request, filed under case TSE-12-0306-2026, is currently pending a final decision. A public notice was issued as part of the legal procedure to allow third parties to present opposition.

Other pending cases include José Horacio José Martínez, requesting the name Oprah Alysha, and Cristian Milagros de Sena Celedonio, requesting the name Cristina. Additionally, a case involving Megan Itzel Paulino, who requested the name Nicolás, has already received a ruling from the TSE.
