Trichy Grand Cholas qualify for TNPL 2026 playoffs

In the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2026, the Trichy Grand Cholas have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs following a 14-run victory over the Chepauk Super Gillies.

Trichy posted a total of 191/7, driven by half-centuries from S Shyam Sundar (52) and Sanjay Yadav (54). In response, Chepauk Super Gillies reached 177/6, despite a strong 75-run innings from K Aashiq. K Easwaran secured two crucial wickets for Trichy to seal the win, effectively ending the Super Gillies' playoff hopes.

In a separate rain-affected match, the Vida Kovai Kings defeated the Dindigul Dragons by 85 runs via the DLS method. Vida Kovai Kings captain M Shahrukh Khan scored an unbeaten 59 runs off just 18 balls, while bowler Jhathavedh Subramanayan took 4/12 to restrict the Dragons to 93/9 in 13 overs.
