Tricia Pridemore to resign from Georgia Public Service Commission

Republican Public Service Commissioner Tricia Pridemore has announced her resignation from the Georgia Public Service Commission, effective September 4. Pridemore, who has served on the utility-regulating body since 2018, submitted her resignation to Governor Brian Kemp approximately 60 days before the upcoming election to fill her seat.

Governor Kemp has appointed former Commissioner Stan Wise, who served from 1995 to 2018, to hold the position until the next elected official is sworn in. The seat will be decided in the November 3 election, where Republican Josh Tolbert will face Democrat Sheila Edwards.

The Public Service Commission regulates Georgia’s utility companies and influences energy pricing for customers. Recent political attention has focused on the commission following Democratic gains on the previously all-Republican panel, often linked to debates over rising energy rates.
