Trier children's hospice to open in November

A new stationary children's and youth hospice, known as the ‘Nestwärme-Haus’, is set to begin admitting its first patients in Trier this November. The facility, located on Petrisberg, is designed to support children and adolescents with life-shortening illnesses and their families.

The approximately 11-million-euro building features eight large rooms for guests, family rooms, play and therapy rooms, a meeting center, and communal areas with a kitchen. It serves as a place for palliative care, grief support, and respite for caregivers who may be reaching their limits after years of round-the-clock care.

This is the second stationary children's hospice in Rhineland-Palatinate, following the facility in Dudenhofen. According to Nestwärme co-founder Petra Moske, the hospice is open to families from the surrounding region, including Luxembourg and Saarland, as well as inquiries from across Germany. The official opening of the new building is scheduled for October 23.
