Trier police pursue suspects after bicycle shop burglary

Police in Trier conducted a high-speed pursuit following a burglary at a specialized bicycle shop on Saarstraße. The incident occurred near midnight on Friday, October 2, when perpetrators stole several high-value bicycles.

After witnesses reported a white van fleeing the scene, local and federal police units initiated a manhunt. During the pursuit, the suspects ignored police signals and nearly caused an accident involving a cyclist. The chase ended near the Mosel river when officers managed to stop the van. Two suspects fled on foot, with one jumping into the Mosel in an attempt to escape. The individual was eventually retrieved from the riverbank by the Trier fire department and taken into custody.
