Trier proposes new site for Trier-West primary school merger

The city of Trier is reconsidering the location for a new merged primary school intended to combine the Reichertsberg and Pallien schools in the Trier-West district. While the project has been under discussion for a decade, recent shifts in urban development and legal requirements for all-day childcare have necessitated a change in plans.

Originally, the city planned to build the new facility on a site at Pater-Loskyll-Weg. However, officials determined that the 2,670 square meter plot is insufficient to accommodate the projected growth in local housing and the need for a four-class-per-year-group capacity.

As an alternative, the school administration has proposed using the existing Reichertsberg primary school site. This location offers over 6,600 square meters, providing enough space for the school, expansion reserves, and the potential development of a family-oriented primary school center. The administration will now present a proposal to the city council to officially switch the location to the Reichertsberg site.
