Trier to host national school music festival in 2027

Trier will host the national school music festival ‘Schulen musizieren’ from June 17 to 20, 2027. Organized by the Bundesverband Musikunterricht (BMU), the event brings together musical ensembles of all school types and ages from across Germany.

More than 1,000 students are expected to participate, including local ensembles from the Rhineland-Palatinate region. The festival aims to showcase the diversity and capability of school music ensembles and promote musical connections across state borders. Performances are scheduled to take place at various locations in and around Trier, including the cathedral, local churches, concert halls, the pedestrian zone, and the banks of the Moselle river.
