Trieste and Indonesia launch precision liver health research collaboration

The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), the Fondazione Italiana Fegato (FIF), and the Indonesian National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) have launched a scientific collaboration focused on precision research for liver health. This strategic initiative aims to address the increasing burden of liver diseases in Indonesia.

The program utilizes an interdisciplinary approach, integrating computational sciences, medical physics, molecular biology, and clinical research. Key research areas include data-based computational modeling scheduled for April to June 2026, and the development of radiomics for quantitative imaging planned for September to November 2026.

A central component of the project is scientific capacity building through the training and mobility of Indonesian researchers within the Trieste research ecosystem. The initiative includes researchers from the Eijkman Research Center for Molecular Biology and the Computing Research Center.
