Trieste homicide inquiry: Suspect remains silent as forensic reports emerge
New developments have emerged in the investigation into the death of Liliana Resinovich, who disappeared from her home in Trieste in December 2021 and was found dead in the park of a former psychiatric hospital in January 2022.
Sebastiano Visintin, who is officially registered as a suspect for homicide, appeared before prosecutors on October 2. During the meeting, Visintin exercised his legal right to remain silent and did not answer questions. This follows a change in his legal standing compared to previous hearings.
A 352-page forensic report has also been filed. The report includes high-tech microscopic analysis of the shoes worn by Resinovich at the time her body was discovered. However, experts noted that soil traces on the soles did not match the rose garden where she was found, making it impossible to determine if she walked to the location or was moved there.
Additionally, forensic analysis has identified the DNA of three unknown males on the victim's clothing, a black bag, and a key cord found in her purse. Investigators continue to analyze mobile phone data, GoPro footage, and other technical evidence as the inquiry remains open.
