Trieste hosts International Festival of Young Excellences awards

The International Festival of Young Excellences held an awards ceremony on August 28 at the Palazzo della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia in Trieste, honoring several young talents.

Valentino Taormina, a 19-year-old musician from Sicily, was named ‘Musicista di Eccellenza’. An international commission recognized him for his technical expertise and expressive maturity on the organ and piano. Taormina, a student at the ‘Alessandro Scarlatti’ Conservatory in Palermo, has been playing since age four.

In the writing category, Erik Cavalieri was named the absolute winner for his work, ‘Comacchio’. The international jury praised his narrative architecture and elegant stylistic approach. The award was presented by Professor Paolo Quazzolo of the University of Trieste.

The festival, promoted by the non-profit Atelier di Creatività, brought together young talents from various Italian regions and abroad, supported by several institutional partners including the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the UNESCO Club of Udine.
