Italy regional news: Port logistics cooperation and cultural events
Various regional initiatives and cultural events are taking place across Italy. In Trieste, the FORLIS project has been launched, a €200,000 cooperation initiative between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Somalia. The 36-month program will bring 14 Somali students to Trieste to undergo specialized training in port and hinterland logistics at the ITS Nautico Adriatico. The goal is to transfer technical, port, and customs expertise back to Mogadishu to strengthen Somalia's logistics systems.
Economic and cultural developments in Trieste include the Generali Convention Center reporting 326,500 presences and an estimated €102.5 million economic impact over four years. Additionally, the city will host the fourth edition of ‘Above the Clouds’, an international breakdance event held at the Generali Convention Center in memory of Mattia Montenesi.
In other regions, Rome Capitale is organizing a trip to Lampedusa for 78 students to commemorate the victims of the October 3, 2013, shipwreck. Meanwhile, in La Spezia, Aidea is launching its new academic year at Liceo Classico ‘Lorenzo Costa’, focusing on Erasmus+ opportunities for adults and volunteers.
