Trieste Science+Fiction Festival announces first films for 26th edition
The 26th edition of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, scheduled to take place from November 3 to 8, has announced its initial film selection. The festival will showcase a variety of international genre cinema, including science fiction, horror, and thrillers.
The opening film will be the Finnish ecological science fiction comedy “The Squirrel” by Markus Lehmusruusu, which depicts a dystopian future where nature has been replaced by synthetic imitations. Other highlighted titles include “Colony,” an epidemic horror film by Yeon Sang-ho, the labyrinthine nightmare “Exit 8” based on the international video game phenomenon, the sequel “Freaks II,” and the arachnophobic horror “Arachnid – Ragnatela letale” starring Matilda Lutz.
Director Paolo Strippoli, who was recently designated by Italy for the Oscar race, will preside over the Asteroid Award jury. The jury will be joined by Emma Braslavsky and Morten Haagensen. Additional awards, such as the Silver Méliès Award and the Stars War Critics' Award for best debut work, will also be presented during the event.
