Trieste Science+Fiction Festival returns for 26th edition
The 26th edition of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival is set to take place in Trieste, Italy. This year, the Cinema Ariston, recently restored, will serve as a parallel projection venue alongside the historic Teatro Miela. Other key locations include the Teatro Rossetti and the Sci-Fi Dome, a temporary structure located in Piazza della Borsa.
The festival features over 60 premieres of international fantastic cinema, including works by Markus Lehmusruusu and Werner Herzog. The program also includes a masterclass by Paolo Strippoli and a presentation by Mauro Repetto. This edition commemorates the centenary of Hugo Gernsback’s “Amazing Stories” and the birth of Roger Corman.
As part of the festivities, the MONDOFUTURO scientific review will run from November 3 to 5 in Piazza della Borsa. Curated by science journalist Simona Regina, the series includes six free events addressing topics such as interstellar travel, artificial intelligence, environmental impacts of war, and the distinction between scientific evidence and fake news. Speakers include researchers from the Trieste Astronomical Observatory and various experts in science communication.
