Trieste summer festival lineup announced for late July

A series of cultural events in Trieste has been scheduled for July 29‑31. On July 29 at 21:00 the Festival TriesteLovesJazz will feature Italian saxophonist Francesco Bearzatti performing a post‑atomic tribute to Led Zeppelin, joined by bassist Danilo Gallo and drummer Stefano Tamborrino. The concert continues at 22:00 with the Tamara Obravac Transistria Ensemble, blending contemporary jazz, Istrian dialect and Mediterranean traditions.

At the J.J. Winckelmann Museum, a musical comedy titled “Il gioco di ruolo” will be staged at 21:00, produced by TMC and the Trieste Musical Company. The story imagines a future where LGBTQIA+ people become the majority and a party called the Pink Helmets governs with a progressive iron fist.

On July 30, the Giardino del Museo Sartorio will host a program honoring Greek composer Manos Hatzidakis on the centenary of his birth, presenting the work “La Voce del mare” by the International Operetta Association of Friuli‑Venezia Giulia.
