Trieste to host EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference in 2027
Trieste has been selected to host the EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference from September 29 to October 1, 2027. Cristina Amirante, the regional councilor for Infrastructure and Territory of Friuli Venezia Giulia, announced that the event will showcase the region's progress in sustainable mobility and its position as a key European hub for cycling.
The announcement follows the conclusion of the Cyros (Cycle Routes for Sustainable Tourism) project. This cross-border initiative, which runs through December 2026 with a budget of 2.75 million euros, is co-financed by the European Union via the Interreg VI-A Italy-Croatia program. The project aims to enhance the Adriatic-Ionian cycling route through train-bus-ship intermodality, digital infrastructure, and the promotion of slow tourism to balance seasonal tourist flows.
