Trieste to host the start of the 2027 Giro d'Italia

Trieste has been confirmed as the starting location for the 2027 Giro d'Italia. Urbano Cairo, president of RCS Media Group, announced the agreement for the Grand Tour to begin in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.

The planned route includes an opening stage starting and ending in Trieste, which is expected to include a loop through Slovenia. Other scheduled segments include a stage from Gorizia to Pordenone and a significant climb to Monte Zoncolan, which may serve as the destination for the penultimate stage.

The full route details are expected to be revealed in Rome on November 3. While the race is anticipated to conclude in Rome as per tradition, the 2027 edition will feature heavy representation from Northeast Italy, including climbs such as Gavia and Mortirolo.
