Trigano labor dispute: Fiom Cgil challenges contract legitimacy

A labor dispute has erupted at the Trigano camper manufacturing plant in San Gimignano between the Fiom Cgil and Fim Cisl unions regarding the legitimacy of employment agreements and the non-renewal of 74 fixed-term contracts.

Fiom Cgil contends that recent agreements signed in 2019 and 2024 are illegal because they lack the necessary legal justifications for using temporary contracts. The union cites rulings from the Tribunal of Siena and the Court of Appeal of Florence, which previously declared the 2019 agreement illegitimate. Fiom argues that the 2024 agreement, which reduced the period for working without specific justifications from 48 to 24 months, fails to provide actual worker protection and violates new national collective bargaining criteria for metalworkers.

Fiom has denied ever signing proximity agreements with the company, accusing Fim Cisl of misrepresenting the history of labor relations. The union is demanding the stabilization of workers who have exceeded 24 months of service, direct hiring, an end to the use of cooperatives, and the opening of a new negotiating table to align contract management with current national standards.
