Trigema adopts robotics to combat skilled labor shortage
German textile manufacturer Trigema is introducing robotics into its production facilities to combat a severe shortage of skilled labor. The company, based in Burladingen, has traditionally relied on manual craftsmanship and maintains a '100% Made in Germany' production standard.
Due to demographic shifts and an aging workforce, the company's management, including Wolfgang Grupp jun. and Bonita Grupp, is pivoting toward automation. This move is considered a significant shift, as the precise handling of flexible fabrics has historically been difficult to automate. To implement this technology, Trigema is collaborating with automation specialist Robotextile and Hochschule Niederrhein to test robotic applications in the sewing room.
