Trigno bridge reconstruction delayed until at least 2027
The reconstruction of the bridge on the SS16 over the Trigno river is not expected to be completed before 2027. Following a meeting on October 23 between the 'Ridateci il Ponte' civic committee and Molise regional infrastructure assessor Michele Marone, officials indicated that the new bridge project is anticipated by mid-November 2026.
Construction timelines face potential delays due to necessary environmental and landscape authorizations, which can take up to 90 days. Additionally, Anas must conduct site verifications to ensure the reconstruction complies with current regulations regarding the location of the collapsed structure.
The committee, representing approximately 17,000 supporters, expressed concerns over the lack of a definitive schedule and the economic and social impact of the closure. The disruption affects mobility along the Adriatic corridor, impacting tourism and local businesses in the Molise and Abruzzo regions. Discussions also included a proposal for a temporary connecting ramp to the A14 motorway, which would require land use agreements with Ferrovie dello Stato, the Reclamation Consortium, and private owners.
