Trigno River bridge collapse: Family demands search for missing Mino Racanati
Six and a half months after the collapse of the bridge over the Trigno River, the family of Domenico ‘Mino’ Racanati is demanding answers regarding the delay in search operations. Vanessa De Marco, the wife of the missing maritime worker, has issued a public appeal questioning why authorities have postponed further searches until mid-November. She expressed frustration over what she described as a ‘huge sense of indifference’ regarding her husband, who has been missing since April 2.
Testimonies shared on the program ‘Chi l’ha visto?’ on Rai 3 have shed light on the circumstances of the accident. A couple who survived the collapse reported that they were able to reach the viaduct via secondary roads despite transit prohibitions, noting a lack of barriers or signage to redirect drivers.
The incident has caused significant disruption to the SS16 highway, affecting connections between the Abruzzo and Molise regions. In response, the civic committee ‘Ridateci il Ponte’ has collected 17,000 signatures to demand operational dialogue with regional institutions regarding the bridge and the ongoing search efforts.
