Trigonale festival brings early music to Carinthia

The Trigonale festival, an international event for early music, is currently taking place in Carinthia, Austria, running until September 13. The festival features seven concerts held at various historical locations, including the Ossiach Abbey and St. Georgen am Längsee.

Festival director Stefan Schweiger, who also works as a sound and lighting technician, has converted a former music workshop in Portendorf into a concert hall for approximately 100 people. This renovation was completed without public funding. The program includes performances by musicians such as Dutch violinist and composer Judith Steenbrink, German conductor Johanna Soller, and Russian violinist Daria Spiridonova.

To encourage accessibility, the festival offers free admission to youths under 16 and a special initiative providing free tickets to first-time visitors. Schweiger has also proposed that a percentage of cultural subsidies be pooled for collective cultural advertising efforts.
