Trikala implements strict anti-smoking plan for schools and offices
The Directorate of Primary Education of Trikala has implemented a comprehensive anti-smoking plan to protect public health and ensure compliance with existing legislation. The plan applies to all administrative offices and school units within its jurisdiction.
The ban covers all forms of smoking and products that mimic tobacco, including electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and herbal smoking products. In school environments, the prohibition extends to both indoor and outdoor areas, including classrooms, offices, laboratories, gyms, cafeterias, courtyards, and sports fields.
To enforce the measure, the directorate will install mandatory signage and remove ashtrays and lighters from premises. Regular monthly and extraordinary inspections will be conducted. Fines for violations include 200 euros for smokers in school areas and 500 euros for those in charge of management. In administrative workspaces, smokers face a 100 euro fine, while managers face 500 euros. Violations by public officials may also result in disciplinary action.
