Greece: Scheduled power outages and traffic disruptions
Various planned service disruptions are scheduled across Greece for Sunday, October 18, 2026, affecting both electricity supply and road traffic.
In Crete, the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDIE) has announced scheduled power outages in the regional units of Heraklion, Chania, Rethymno, and Lasithi due to construction and maintenance works. In Larissa, specifically in the Tyrnavos and Elassona municipalities, power outages will affect residential areas, businesses, and industrial facilities.
Traffic disruptions are also expected due to the 10th Marathon Half Marathon in the Municipality of Marathon. The Hellenic Police have implemented gradual and full road closures on Marathon Avenue and surrounding streets between 07:30 and 12:00 to accommodate the event. Alternative routes have been designated for drivers.
Additionally, Thessaloniki will experience traffic adjustments on the Eastern Inner Ring Road from late Sunday night into Monday morning. In Trikala, road closures and narrowing will occur from October 19 to 21 due to asphalt paving works by DEYAT.
