Trikala Water Utility Secures Energy Autonomy via 4.6 MW Solar Farm

The Region of Thessaly is financing a 4.6 MW photovoltaic station at Diakleto, Trikala, with a total budget of €4,554,911. The plant is part of the “Thessaly 2021‑2027” programme and will be linked to the medium‑voltage transmission network for virtual energy offset.

The solar output will be used by the Trikala Water Supply and Wastewater Management Company (DEUAT) to eliminate its electricity costs, giving the utility full energy autonomy. Governor Dimitrios Kouretas said the project supports the region’s green transition, while DEUAT deputy general manager Chrysostomos Kalaiaras highlighted the cooperation with the municipality and the expected financial relief for local residents.
