Trinamool Congress faces mass MP resignations as senior leader quits

Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has resigned from both the party and his parliamentary seat, citing discontent with internal decisions. Following his departure, reports indicate that up to 20 TMC MPs – comprising members of both houses – are preparing to leave the party and join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Separately, fourteen other TMC legislators are said to have met West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in Delhi, sparking speculation that they may also quit the party or form a separate “real TMC” faction. The internal revolt is viewed as a significant setback for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ahead of upcoming elections and could weaken the party’s presence in Parliament.
