Trinamool Congress faction claims 22 MPs, seeks separate Lok Sabha group

A group of rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar announced that their faction now includes 22 members. The rebels plan to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on June 15 to request official recognition as a separate parliamentary group.

The faction has not disclosed the names of the two newly added MPs. It claims to have secured signatures from 19 TMC MPs on a document petitioning the Speaker, and says it will support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The split follows internal tensions within TMC after the West Bengal assembly and recent Lok Sabha elections.

Party leaders not associated with the rebel group, including several senior TMC figures, have not confirmed participation, and the TMC leadership has yet to issue an official response.
