Trinamool Congress leaders reject claims of MP defections to the NDA
Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kalyan Banerjee warned the party’s rebel faction that any members supporting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) should resign, calling the alleged shift “a moral responsibility.” He questioned the existence of a letter said to have been sent by rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar that purportedly listed about 20 TMC MPs backing the NDA, noting that the document has not been made public.
Lok Sabha MP Pratima Mondal also denied the allegations, calling reports of her signature on the alleged letter “fake news.” She urged the rebels to produce proof and reaffirmed her loyalty to the TMC and its leadership, stating she will serve her constituents under the party’s twin‑flower symbol until 2029. The disputes arise amid ongoing turmoil within the TMC following its defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections and the formation of a BJP‑led state government.
