Trinamool Congress officials resign across West Bengal after election loss

Eight Trinamool Congress (TMC) representatives, including Shiuili gram panchayat chief Arun Kumar Ghosh and six other members, submitted their resignations to the Barakpur Block‑2 BDO office in North 24 Parganas. The move follows the party’s defeat in the recent West Bengal Assembly election, with Ghosh saying, “The people voted against us in the election, so we are respecting the voters’ decision and resigning voluntarily.” The same day, Nahti municipality chairman Ashok Chatterjee also tendered his resignation, adding to a series of local TMC departures.

Separately, TMC MLA Mosarf Hussain, who heads the party’s state minority cell, announced his resignation from the party post. Citing his mother’s illness, Hussain also acknowledged a shift in his political alignment after the election results, stating that he could no longer work as before.

Both resignations reflect a broader trend of TMC legislators and local officials stepping down after the party lost power in the state, signaling internal realignments within West Bengal politics.
