Kunal Ghosh's vehicle attacked twice in West Bengal

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Kunal Ghosh was targeted in two separate attacks on his vehicle within an 18-hour period in West Bengal. The first incident occurred on Saturday in the Uttarpara area of Hooghly district while Ghosh was traveling to a rally led by Mamata Banerjee. He alleged that a mob pelted his car with stones and eggs, shattering the rear windshield.

The second attack took place on Sunday in the Phoolbagan area of Kolkata. Ghosh claimed that armed individuals on motorcycles followed him, brandished revolvers, and used a hammer to smash his car windows in an attempt to drag him out of the vehicle. Following these incidents, Ghosh approached the Calcutta High Court seeking urgent security and protection.

TMC leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee and Mamata Banerjee, condemned the violence, alleging that the attacks were orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to intimidate political opponents. Mamata Banerjee further claimed that TMC leaders were being placed under house arrest to prevent them from attending political programs. The BJP has denied these allegations, with spokesperson Debjit Sarkar suggesting the incidents may stem from internal factional rivalries within the TMC.
