TrinaTracker unveils AI robots for solar panel installation and cleaning
TrinaTracker, a subsidiary of Trina Solar, has introduced two new AI-powered robots designed to automate the installation and maintenance of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar plants.
The Buildex robot is engineered for module installation. Utilizing 3D cameras, AI vision algorithms, and LiDAR-based safety sensing, it can autonomously pick up, transport, align, and place solar modules. The company reports that Buildex can install up to 90 modules per hour, which is three to four times faster than manual installation. The system features a height-adjustable base capable of maintaining a level platform on slopes of up to 17 degrees and is compatible with both fixed structures and 1P/2P trackers.
The Aurora robot is designed for unattended module cleaning. It uses proprietary self-correction algorithms to manage height differences of up to 50 mm and utilizes real-time data from environmental sensors and plant trackers to plan cleaning routes. Powered by PV modules, Aurora is intended to reduce energy losses caused by dust and soiling through regular, autonomous operation.
