Trinidad and Tobago secures Netball World Cup berth in Barbados
Trinidad and Tobago’s Calypso Girls have officially qualified for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia, following a dominant 106-16 victory over the British Virgin Islands at the Americas Qualifiers in Barbados. The win maintains their unbeaten record in the tournament, cementing their position at the top of the standings.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines has significantly strengthened its bid for the second available qualification spot. After a series of strong performances, including victories over the United States, Canada, the British Virgin Islands, and Barbados, the Vincy Jewels currently hold second place with a 5-1 record. Their recent 77-52 win over Grenada further bolstered their standing.
The tournament, held at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, features eight teams competing for two automatic qualification places. While Trinidad and Tobago has secured their spot, the final position for the second berth remains highly competitive between St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, and the United States.
