Trinidad and Tobago expands visa-free travel and celebrates diplomatic ties

Trinidad and Tobago is strengthening its international connections through both diplomatic milestones and expanded travel access. The nation is celebrating 59 years of friendship and cooperation with Canada, marked by a cultural event hosted by the Canadian High Commission. Officials from both nations highlighted the importance of trade, cultural exchange, and the significant movement of students, entrepreneurs, and professionals between the two countries.

In a boost to the tourism sector, Germany has joined Canada, Australia, and 102 other countries in allowing visa-free entry for Trinidad and Tobago passport holders, effective October 2026. This expansion aims to increase visitor numbers and support the local economy. Recent tourism data shows a 13% increase in international arrivals during the early 2026 Carnival period compared to the previous year, though monthly visitor numbers have fluctuated since.
