Trinidad and Tobago former PM Rowley demands end to state of emergency
Former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley used a Facebook post to demand that the government of Prime Minister Kamla Persad‑Bissessar immediately lift the State of Emergency in Trinidad and Tobago. He called for the dismissal of Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander and Attorney General John Jeremie, accusing the administration of abusing emergency powers to settle personal and political scores.
Rowley criticised the government for jailing citizens without evidence, for seeking assistance from foreign jurisdictions, and for compromising national sovereignty. He labeled the prime minister a “Facebook troll” and urged her to restore respect by ending the emergency measures and removing the two ministers.
