Trinidad and Tobago government secures ownership of Hilton Trinidad
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has finalized a new ownership and management arrangement for the Hilton Trinidad & Conference Centre, preventing a potential shutdown. State-owned Evolving Technologies and Enterprise Development Company Limited (eTeCK) has acquired all outstanding shares of Hilton International Trinidad Limited. The entity has been renamed HotelTT Asset Management Company Limited and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of eTeCK.
Under the new owner-and-operator model, the State retains ownership of the hotel and its assets, while Hilton will continue to manage day-to-day hospitality operations, service standards, and the guest experience. The Hilton brand name will remain, preserving existing international booking channels. This agreement follows months of negotiations and arrives just two weeks before the previous lease was set to expire.
Minister of Land and Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein stated that the deal provides relief for the hotel’s employees, who had faced uncertainty regarding their jobs. The arrangement ensures that hotel operations will continue without interruption and provides a framework for addressing necessary renovations and emergency requirements at the property.
