Trinidad and Tobago honors 35 recipients at 57th National Awards

President Christine Carla Kangaloo hosted the 57th National Awards Ceremony on September 24, 2026, at Queen’s Hall to mark the 50th anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago becoming a Republic. The ceremony honored 32 individuals and three organizations for their significant contributions to national development.

Distinguished recipients included Chief Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh, Senator Wade Stephen Mark, and Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, who were awarded the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Other honors included the Chaconia Medal, the Hummingbird Medal, the Public Service Medal of Merit, and the Medal for the Development of Women.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad congratulated the awardees, noting their impact on the nation’s prosperity and well-being. The selection process for these honors involves public nominations, review by a National Awards Committee chaired by the Chief Justice, and final approval by the Prime Minister.
